This year sees Alex Edelman bring his third Edinburgh hour
having won the Best Newcomer in 2014. He's been working a fair bit in the
States lately, though thankfully he's had the chance to write another show.
This show's framed around an American Nationalist meeting he
decided to go to, just to see what it would be like, and around this frankly
bizarre decision (particularly as he's Jewish) Edelman brings up pertinent
ideas of white privilege and his own identity as an American Jew.
It's not all serious though, in fact the majority of the
show is filled with entertaining anecdotes and fun jokes, ranging from the time
he was invited to assist with the BAFTAs by Stephen Fry to taking about his
brother inexplicably competing in the Winter Olympics for Israel, as well as a
strong opening set about his admiration of the late Robin Williams and his
unlikely friendship with the gorilla, Koko.
Edelman is an extremely talented and skilled stand up, a
brilliant anecdotist and not afraid to make a fool of himself. He doesn't
disappoint with his latest show.
