Another previous guest on Josh Widdicombe’s show and
frequently mentioned by Stu Goldsmith on Comedian’s Comedian, I wanted to give
Henry Paker a shout.
A cartoonist predominantly, he’s also pretty decent at stand
up.
He starts the show by illustrating a Beatles song in real
time, before going on t give numerous witty stand-up routines about his
domestic life.
Punctuating the show is a cartoon about a man surrounded by
clocks who used to go out with Nobody before he meets a lovely lady at a clock
repair shop. Initialy there’s a sad ending, but fear not, there’s actually a
ehart-warming happy ending.
Paker is certainly a decent comedian, he’s got good
structure, good timing, and a nice breezy and light delivery style. Just a pity
I kept nodding off during the show. Everyone else seemed to have an excellent
time. I can certainly recognise his skills, but it wasn’t terribly tickling me.
Nevertheless, a very solid stand-up act, you can’t go too wrong with him.
